Nikkor Lens for Sale

Dear all,
My friend Nishant wants to sell his camera lens. If you're interested in buying or can offer leads on where he can sell his, please get in touch with me.

- Chandni

From Nishant:

Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom
Japan Make
Other details: Body and Glass in mint condition, always used with a UV filter on (which I will throw in with the lens)
Reason for sale - Inventory reconfiguration

I tried going to a dealer in Fort today, and they are offering pathetic prices. So that's not an option anymore!

And I have another one that I will be parting with ONLY IF I manage to sell the above lens. That one is

Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom
Other details same as above.

Thanks so much.

Muslim women participants from Bombay needed for a research study

Get in touch with me if you want Sana's email ID.

Chandni

From: Sana
Date: 2009/1/13
Subject: Participants for a research study

Dear All,

Dr. Ragini Sen, an accomplished researcher and social psychologist, is looking for participants for a research study on Self and Identity in the context of Religion. It is part of a multi-cultural study being conducted in India (by Ragini), Austria (by Wolfgang Wagner) and Indonesia (by Risa Permandilli). The study had its starting point when the researchers noticed that, for instance, in countries like Turkey, France, Britain etc, the 'hijab' and its donning by women is not solely an indicator of rise in fundamentalism, as it is widely believed to be in the West, but is a more complex issue.

As of now, the study is in a formative stage. Ragini is looking to interview Muslim women, who have not been wearing the hijab since childhood, but have donned it more recently, who will serve as key-informants for this stage of the study. This is purely an academic exercise and these interviews are the starting point.

If you know of anyone who fits the bill, or can think of a place where she can tap such women, do let me know. There's no remuneration for participating in the study, but I can vouch that chattering with Ragini is a lot of fun :)

Best,
Sana.

Help Design a Questionnaire on Gender and Violence...

Dear all,
If you're interested in designing the questionnaire on the issues of gender and violence (or want to recommend somebody), please mail me or Rita. Rita runs 'The 50 Million Missing International Campaign' - an initiative that works on the issue of female genocide.

www.50millionmissing.in

I'd suggest you get in touch even if you don't meet all of Rita's requirements (the first and third one that is)... if you'd like to design a good, comprehensive questionnaire.

Thanks.

Best,
Chandni.

Subject: psychologist profile

Hi Chandni

Here is the desired profile of the psychologist.

1.  Preferably affiliated with a university, so they could put a few of their students on the project for university credit, and they would have the statistical software for data analysis.

2. There is no payment -- but we would do it jointly (university with 50MMI), and they can use the data for publications (but they must credit the 50mmi too, and we too will do the same for them in our publications).  We'll have a properly drafted and signed agreement before we embark on anything.

3. Must have worked on issues of women and violence in atleast two countries, India and one other country, so they have a comparative basis.

4. Has to be in agreement with our position that India's case is unique in that the situation goes beyond ordinary domestic violence -- and it is to be treated as female genocide.

5. The projects we will focus on are survey to examine collective psychology patterns and social attitudes on the issues of gender and violence, and to extricate those factors that need to be addressed in gender workshops.  Project 2, is formulating gender workshops for schools and also for communities that will be effective in collective transformation of attitudes.  This project will be ongoing -- for we will have to keep testing the effectiveness of the project and making changes as need be.

Filmmaker Available: For Films for NGOs

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Jagannathan Krishnan <jagannathan.krishnan@gmail.com>
Date: 2009/1/1
Subject: Help me strike off one of my To Do's

Hi Chandni
One of my To Do's for the coming year is that I want to make low cost audio visual spots for NGO's that they can put on the net. Make it very little above cost. Sort of like an ad with a concept articulating the space or cause they espouse. An ad with a concept. I think you can help. Being the epicentre of the world wide web has its advantages :)
Do spread word. If anyone needs a film then let them know that there's someone who can make something for them. Also which are the progressive organisations which would think of something like a viral on the web as smart thing to do?

Best,

Jagannathan
